This project has been one where students chose 5 states to "visit" while I chose a beginning and ending point. They have been given about one hour per state "visited" to research specific facts using the Internet, reference books, maps, and informational cards. Each student has his/her own research notebook to use for documenting. They have been required to take specific, basic notes on each location. After notes are taken on one location, I give each child about one hour to finish a final page for them to apply the research they have done that will go in the final book. This has been a very rigorous project that most students have accepted and done well. We have all learned many new and interesting facts along the way! I will be sharing their final Coast to Coast book at conferences.

Mrs. SmithHello! My name is Savanah Smith (AKA: Mrs. Smith). I grew up in a small town called Joliet, Montana. Throughout my school years I played as many sports and activities as I could. I LOVE the outdoors, being active, and reading. I graduated with a photography degree from Northwest College in Powell, Wyoming. I still use my photography skills by running a small part-time photography business called VanahMarie's Photography. This business is more for fun than anything because I love to create art. I met my wonderful husband, Brett, a couple years after graduating from Powell, and we were married in June of 2010. Currently, we have two other four-legged members of our family. The first is Gweedo, our furry cat who thinks he is a dog. The second is Rebel, our puppy who thinks he's a human! They both bring excitement to our busy lives. Archives
